I just wondered if you use firefox and if you do, did the latest update mess up your facebook? I did, and it did, so I deleted it and am now using google chrome. But, not really liking it much at all. I am also using safari, but I really liked firefox till the latest update.
Oh, and are using that copy of xp yet? Did it all work out OK?

J...Nanny wants me to ask you what you want her to do with your mail? Send it on to you? Or send some of it back to sender? You have some from income tax, carleton u, some obviously from loans, some from bank etc...., I guess there is getting to be quite a pile of it. Also, someone is phoning for you...Sounds like bill collectors...Yikes!...Anyways...Maybe you could email her and you guys can figure it out. I am letting you know, like she wanted me to.
I am going to meet her downtown now.....Shopping and supper....She is at her apartment, so has access to her computer. Email her and figure things out with her.... <3

i have my firefox updates turned off. chrome is a horrible excuse for a browser... do you have the tracking number for the mail you sent me? just tell her to put the mail she gets aside for now. i'll eventually get the addresses updated and most of it will stop coming. i'll call her in a few weeks and we can go through it over the phone. most of it will end up in the recycle bin, but i don't want her to recycle that one piece of mail i needed.... the bill collectors can fuck off. they won't stop, so i just flat out ignore them. just tell her to screen her calls. right now, i'm not planning on getting a phone at all. not a landline, not a cell, nothing. i'm really enjoying not having one. so there's no useful information she can give them....

Well.... I just sent it in regular mail...So, no tracking #. OMG!....She can be so trying to go shopping with...That is for sure!...lol.... I am sooooo glad to get home!....It was nice to see her though.
I will tell her to just stack the mail up and wait for you to contact her then....And she is already screening her calls..

i didn't get anything in the mail, but i did get an email that rejected me both for first/last and moving costs, citing "budget cuts". i'll have to see if the city of windsor offers anything.

That's weird! Tomorrow is Wednesday...I mailed that last Tuesday night....So, it would have gone out in the Wednesdays pick up. Hopefully it will be there by tomorrow? Does it take that long in the mail? Don got his phone fairly quickly... That really stinks about their stupid "budget cuts". I don't know what the hell they think one would do if they didn't have someone to help them out with moving costs!... I mean there are many people out there that would be really stuck!...What are they supposed to do??...I just don't understand at all.

Yes, but what if they don't have a family to rely on? It is completely ridiculous!.... I wonder if you write a letter disagreeing with their decision, if it will make any difference. I think they tell you in a letter that if you disagree with their decision that you have a certain amount of time to put it in writing to them.

this is an enraging argument that just goes around in circles. consider their position on abortion. they want to ban all access to abortion as immoral, but then they refuse to fund services for single mothers, teenagers, etc....arguing that if you have a child out of the proper systems of hierarchy then you should be punished for your sins.

the thing is, though, that it seems like the entire program was cancelled, so i don't think there's even a body to appeal a decision to, or even a decision at all, really.
it's more like they said "we don't do this anymore".

Well, when I went online to look at their site....They say they cover under certain circumstances...It could be they cover if one is moving for a job...But, that is just not fair at all!....I would check it out.
Some workers are very helpful, while others are just miserable...Hopefully you will get a helpful one down there.

right. it does say that, but what the worker said was that it's only covered through the city. so, i didn't actually apply to anything through odsp. odsp no longer covers moving expenses. what i applied for was a program through the city. they denied it by saying that they don't cover costs to move outside the city. i'm worried that windsor may say they don't cover costs to move into they city. we'll find out.

i still have a lot of stuff to do. i haven't even started on the studio yet.... i've spent so much time alone in my place; i haven't really explored the city, yet. it doesn't really seem a lot different than ottawa, though. it just seems a little cheaper. in all honesty, i spend so much time by myself that it doesn't really matter what city i'm in. you know?

good morning!
this morning brings me to a full week of not buying cigarettes, which i'll admit is the easy part. i've specifically been lax on myself this week in giving in to most urges and it has worked in gradually bringing me down to a few a day. i had two yesterday. i'm going to wait another week before i try and force a serious cold turkey on myself.
i've mentioned i've been through the beginning stages repeatedly and tend to go back to smoking on account of spending a night drinking (indicating that quitting smoking would be an easy thing for me to do if i just quit drinking for a few months, which is ironic because i've never felt remotely addicted to alcohol), and the annoying part that tends to get to me is the lethargy that sets in the first few days. i think that that is lifting....
i've never been a solo drinker, so i think this change of scenery is going to help get me off nicotine....
why not try e-cigs, you ask?
bah. that strikes me as really contrived, like as though you'd see somebody with hair extensions eating daiya cheese and smoking an e-cig while they play second life kind of thing. it might work on some level, but i wouldn't want anybody to see me!
i know i can quit; really, the ease of doing so is probably why i keep going back. "yeah, i've barely been smoking for three weeks, but it doesn't really matter if i smoke my face off tonight because i can quit again in a few days" sort of thing. and this has largely been true, even. i've never really taken addiction seriously, although i've learned that there is such a thing as physical addiction and refraining from substances can produce physical effects.

i think we had a discussion about this happening once before. i know it's probably horrible and surreal and gut-wrenching, but the reality is that you're the most interesting member of the band, the two of them together don't really have many interesting songs of their own and they're making a big mistake that's probably going to ruin both of them in the end. that's probably not much consolation, you probably don't actually want that, but maybe you're actually, in reality, better off without them. how do you feel about them playing your songs? did you talk about that?

I have no idea what my performance rights are. Theyre not allowed to play songs that i wrote or in part wrote. So theyre screwed. They have like four songs?

i don't mean to be rude, and i don't know how this is going to affect your friendship with them, but al strikes me as a completely generic hipster songwriter that you can find a dozen of in every city, and as seems completely out of place in a folk band (she seems like she belongs more in an orchestra). you strike me as more punk than folk, but i guess the difference has blurred in the last ten years and i'm out of touch. you'll keep writing songs and will find musicians to jam with. as may get the gig she wants. al will likely end up doing something else with her life.
have you talked to them about the songs, though? i mean, might they try and steal them and/or continue to perform them, do you think?

Well no, we already split the royalties for most songs. I dont think theyll be sketchy about it. And i completely agree. They dont really get me. And always sort of want me to conform to this bourgy way they live. I know i have serious problems and this week i "fucked up" a lot, but they dont understand that this has to do with thursday's incident and the underlying fucked up trauma ive been through. They know about this in great detail, but yet it seems like they dont believe me and that i am sabotaging myself and the band on purpose.
Also they wrote me a letter in which they gave me seven non- negotiable conditions for re-entering the band. that i will have appropriate stage decorum, that i wont show my pain in front of an audience (whateverthefuckthatmeans), to be diplomatic to fellow artists (obviously referring to the rape apologists) and to never drink again.
Most of these things do not affect the band and are just parts of my personality that they dont lieke and want to be rid of. I dont drink on stage, and my drinking is my fucking problem. Also they refuse to believe that i may be suffering from PTSD and am triggered by seeing certain rape apologists at bars when i was recently assaulted again. They basically just think im an embarassment. Which has been decided basically after what i did on Saturday.
As soon as a female victim gets pissed, she becomes "hysterical," but i didnt get any sympathy from any of those fucking rape apologist douche bags when they saw him threaten my life in front of them. I never got an apology for seriously being in danger for a year or so because of them

i know this is a difficult means of communicating, but i just want to say that i don't think you're getting any friendship support from this group of people and it's probably better for your sake to get out of that circle and warn people to stay out of it. i also want to say that this circumstance is reminding me a lot of syd barrett. we should do a cover of shine on you crazy diamond and hack the speaker system with it during their folk festival performance....

i went through something similar three or four years ago where i lost or rejected essentially everybody i knew. i don't want to say it was easy; it was one of the most difficult phases i've gone through. but, looking back that quote seems so remarkably relevant: ""Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self- esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes". i was totally just surrounded by assholes. you sound like you're also surrounded by assholes. your...mom...out? is that just mad for now or for reals shit? i can't...i've been through massive problems with both my parents, and it was never for reals... i came down with my mom :P. i wish i had a suggestion.
personally? i've been happier since i just lost contact altogether with all of those people. there's a person or two i miss, but as a whole i'm far more stable now. sometimes maybe it's the right way forwards...

Don threw $20 bucks in to cover cost of his phone...And when he gives me the $100(from the truck) refund and hopefully the selfish part he took for himself...We can figure out a way to get that balance to you(not through mail though)....Hope it comes through the mail quickly!...

she's not going to be in the department after all, she's moving to england with a super bourgy boyfriend. those pictures don't do her justice; that was one very attractive lady. i've just been setting things up, it's been one project after another, and i still have a lot of things to do. i guess i haven't been smoking much. or drinking at all.

that being said, i just realized i have two storage spaces and i'm going to put some chairs and a table in one of them and turn it into a smoking room. i can run an extra speaker set from the receiver out, and throw a bottle of febreeze in there - as long as the window stays open, i think it should be ok as a porch alternative. i think it used to be an entrance down into the place. it's sort of weird and hard to explain.

on happiness

i spent a while this afternoon thinking about happiness and what i could possibly tell a young lady that struggles with depression about it's nature. on the less profound side of the scale, our lady peace released a mostly terrible record in the late 90s called "happiness is not a fish that you can catch". the bad corporate emo that the record contains aside, it's sort of a powerful statement that contains a lot of truth within it. on the more profound side of the scale, there's a component of marxist theory that explores the idea of happiness being a sort of illusion. this is one of the reasons i'm not a marxist, fwiw. but it's sort of accepted that the lives of workers are always going to be miserable and that the solution is to deny workers of the vocabulary and conceptual machinery necessary to understand the difference between happiness and misery so that they can continue on in a role of necessary monotony without ever understanding that something better may exist. basically, if the dichotomy between misery and happiness is simply denied then nobody can ever be miserable! marx' butchered concept of dialectics in equally butchered action. scary shit, yes. but, i think it gets closer to the more correct point, which is that happiness doesn't have an objective quantity, and that it's as possible to find happiness in slavery as it is to find misery in freedom. maybe the point of emancipation is merely recognizing that the whole discussion is more or less trivial and the entire idea of happiness is just an imaginary bourgeois fantasy. i guess how the individual reacts from that point of understanding is something that belongs to it. of course, that's easier stated than accomplished.

Yes i agree. I dont want or need to be happy, because i dont think that exists, i just want a little space from Ottawa so I feel i can think straight without reoccuring and terrible things happening. Im sick of feeling panicky because i live in a city full of triggers. I might as well try to live somewhere else. Its my last option. I am quite content with my decision to move, and i have been wanting to do so for a while. At least five years...

how to get a fridge down some stairs

hi mackaye... so, i've got a fridge on my front porch, i knew fridges were heavy, but i thought i could manage it through a set of technical manouvres - an inclined plane, combined with some careful geometric manipulating. unfortunately, it's simply too heavy. i'm guessing moving a fridge isn't something you or anybody you know wants to do on a friday night. but do you think it's possible to put me in contact with a couple of dudes that would be down with helping me get this up a porch, and down a small flight within the next day or two? it's not a big job, and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes with the right muscle power.

it's pretty easy. just take an sd card or usb stick and put it in the side of the scanner. then click on scan in the front. it will scan it to the media. you can then take the media and put it in your computer. i think it only has an sd card, though. she probably has an sd card with her camera, but if you have one then you should bring it just in case.

The thing about meth is different users have a different threshold for intoxication. Overdosing on Methamphetamine has many underlying factors, cocktails of other drugs, complications due to chronic use, general health, body mass etc. The threshold for lethal intoxication may vary depending on the individual. The less dangerous effect of methamphetamine psychosis is a confused, disoriented state. Meth users may repeat the same common action over and over again, such as repeatedly washing their hands or arranging and rearranging everyday objects. They may also experience tactile hallucinations where they feel bugs crawling on them, or feel something moving under their skin. But methamphetamine psychosis can also bring about extremely violent, destructive behavior. Users may have frightening visual hallucinations, such as seeing wild animals or armed aggressors coming to attack them. Meth addicts often suffer from paranoia and become convinced they are surrounded by enemies. They often hear voices, which commonly command violent or aggressive behavior, and they can react to their hallucinations with intense aggression. Meth psychosis can commonly last for days after the last dose of methamphetamine was taken. In some cases it lasts for weeks or even years.

i’ve got a whole eco-system out here on my front porch. that lady seems to like feeding everything in sight: alley cats, squirrels, little birds. it’s been sort of idyllic and peaceful to sit outside amongst all the different little animals, but reality just asserted itself: i saw a hawk swoop down this morning. i think it was a hawk, anyways. i didn’t get a good look at it, just saw the back of it from the side of my eye as it tactically avoided a fence. it may have been an owl, but it definitely wasn’t a pigeon or a gull. i actually haven’t seen a single pigeon or gull yet, strangely….
there were four kittens here, at one point, though. now there’s three. in fact, i only saw two this morning.
well, that’s what happens when you attract a little wildlife sanctuary, i guess. the next logical step is coyotes. coyotes nowadays are sort of not coyotes anymore, though. they’ve been tracking a lot of interbreeding between coyotes and wolves in eastern north america over the last few decades. it has become strong enough of a phenomenon that there’s been talk of a hybridization event. the way it’s working itself out is that a large amount of wolf dna is trickling down into the coyote population. we’d like to hope for the best in such a thing, but evolution has a wily (sorry) character: what we’re seeing develop is a type of canid that has the physical strength and increased killing power of a wolf and the general lack of fear of humans of a coyote. the most adapted traits of each, naturally. so, they’re bigger, stronger and more dangerous coyotes. it’s one thing to talk about moving into their territory, and human encroachment may be driving the hybridization, but the reality is that they’re moving back into the cities and causing some problems. well, you didn’t think that all the wildlife we’re destroying wouldn’t adapt and put up a fight, did you? just a little check on your anthropocentric preconceptions, there. it’s going to require a little bit of careful thinking to try and find a way to co-exist with these more aggressive coyotes (or coywolves). these are predator species. they may be smart enough to know not to attack you directly, especially if there are other things around to eat, including out of garbage bins, but they *are* going to eat your cat if you let it out.
i should clarify that i haven’t seen one yet, and i don’t want to be alarmist about it. wolves have definitely been on the other end of a lot of alarmism. it doesn’t change the trend that’s developing and the need for some kind of humane strategy, though. what i saw today was an avian predator.
…but back to the cats. there were initially three very small ones and a slightly older one. i don’t think the bigger one is a mother because she looks like a kitten, too. i could be wrong, though. cats actually breed fairly young, don’t they? i remember reading something a while back that compared them to rabbits (thereby strengthening my rodentia hypothesis), but i don’t really know. anyways, the bigger one has been a little more brave and the smaller ones seem to be following along a little. they still haven’t come over to say hi yet but i think they’re at least used to me now…

I personally believe that if he never gets it back and has to purchase a new one...It is about the same amount that he dishonestly stole from me...So retributive justice is what he should get...I believe in it so strongly....But not at a price that I have to end up paying for...My Peace Of Mind...
He will get his just recompense, exactly what he deserves in the end....I have faith on that one.

some more progress on cleaning
you should have seen it before. the knobs were...well, i thought their natural colour was the same brown as the lighter shade, there. was shocked that they were actually white. i'm not sure what works and what doesn't, actually. the breaker is off. the guy said it works, though. again: i only really need the big one, although it would be nice to have at least two. i'm waiting until i have a full list of things for him to do before i get a hold of him. tomorrow, probably, or the next day. i only want him to come down here once sort of thing....
