this is the last time i'll point out how pointless "subscribers" are on youtube.
112 subscribers. as far as i can tell, a total of zero of them bothered to watch the video i uploaded a few days ago. which isn't just a low conversion rate. it's entirely useless.
the conclusion one should draw is that going to a youtube profile and trying to deduce anything at all from the subscriber count is a waste of time. whatever the reasons for subscribing are, actually viewing the videos in the feed doesn't seem to be one of them....
i mean, one would think that subscribing to a feed means you're interested in watching the videos posted to the feed.
apparently not.
i do have a hypothesis that people are enjoying my banter, and thinking that they'll receive that banter in their google feed if they subscribe on youtube. which is just not how things work.
the bulk of those subscribers probably meant to follow me on google+, but couldn't figure out how to do it and subscribed to me on youtube instead.
which i guess is sort of funny. but i wish they'd have done what they meant to, so i'd have a better way to understand who is interested in the commentary and who is interested in the music.
like, i grasp that i can't expect all 112 people to watch the video. but i think it's reasonable to expect at least a 25% conversion rate, rather than the 0% i'm actually getting.
then again, i posted on the morning of july 5, when most people were probably hungover. it may have just been a bad day.
we'll see what happens when i post the completed, longer version.
