it's not that i wasn't a hardcore kid. i was a hardcore kid. i was just a bit of an anachronism - i was a hardcore kid c. 1985, when being a hardcore kid was about being politically active, existing c. 2000, when being a hardcore kid was about almost the opposite of that. so, i sounded and mostly acted like one of the hardcore adults.

i really had no idea what emo even was. really.

but, i listened to a lot of socal punk, and a lot of politically aware industrial, which was just an outgrowth of punk. and i hope it's pretty obvious, actually.
